2023 Cadillac Lyriq Features Glass Roof As Standard Feature Spotlight. Cadillac is entering the all-electric auto market with a series of new vehicles, the first of which will be the Cadillac Lyriq luxury crossover in 2023. The Lyriq, as predicted, will include a variety of high-tech technology and comfort elements, including a complete glass canopy as standard. The complete glass roof will be standard across the Cadillac Lyriq lineup in 2023, and it will have a motorized shade and a permanent design. In other words, the glass ceiling will not be movable - it will be set in place. Interestingly, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq was intentionally developed with a glass roof as one of its characteristics. The fixed glass roof not only offers enough natural illumination in the interior but also saves weight when compared to a standard metal roof with a sunroof or moonroof layout. Furthermore, the shade feature will keep the sun out when needed. This is a significant benefit versus new EVs with fixed roofs, like the Mustang Mach-E, which has a permanent glass roof without a shade. Meanwhile, the upcoming Cadillac Celestiq halo sedan will also have a glass roof, but instead of incorporating a shade, the Celestiq's glass roof will use advanced SPD technology, which will allow the user to adjust the glass opacity thanks to nanoparticles in the material that can "flip" to either let light in or block it out. The Cadillac XT5 and Cadillac XT6 also include a double-sized glass roof that folds over the front row and has tilt and slide capability, as well as a motorized sunshade. This feature is standard on Cadillac XT5 Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels, while it is standard on Cadillac XT6 vehicles across the board. Notably, the new Cadillac Lyriq will indirectly replace the Cadillac XT5 and Cadillac XT6 in the luxury brand's lineup.
