Lasershow heropening VDL Nedcar
Lasershow die is afgespeeld tijdens de officiële heropening van de fabriek van VDL Nedcar in Born. Na de overname van NedCar door VDL Groep eind 2012, is gestart met het herinrichten van de autofabriek voor MINI productie in opdracht van BMW Group. VDL Nedcar medewerkers hebben hier samen met BMW Group en diverse toeleveranciers anderhalf jaar lang hard aan gewerkt: van bouwkundige aanpassingen tot logistieke veranderingen en het installeren van nieuwe productiefaciliteiten in onder andere de carrosseriehal, assemblagehal en de lakstraat. In februari 2014 werd bekend gemaakt dat het model dat VDL Nedcar voor BMW Group gaat produceren, de nieuwe MINI is. Dit jaar zullen enkele tienduizenden MINI’s in Born van de band rollen.

VDL Nedcar was an automotive manufacturing company in Born, Netherlands. It was the largest automotive factory in the country, with a production capacity of 240,000 vehicles a year. VDL Nedcar was closed in March 2024 because the contract with BMW Group was not renewed. The company had its origins in a DAF car factory which opened in 1968.
