Rare Citroen M35 Prototype Up for Sale If owning a classic Citroen DS or SM isn’t hipster enough for you, why not try to track down some of the very few M35 prototypes and get one. Too much of a struggle? No worries, we already found one for you and comes in really cheap considering its history. But first, a bit of history. In 1970, Citroen wanted to be even more crazy with its cars and decided to promote the rotary engine. This was done by fitting the new engine into some dubious-looking cars that weren’t quite available for purchase called the M35 prototypes. Instead, Citroen selected loyal clients and make them an offer - get an exclusive M35 prototype, drive it at least 30.000 km () per year and benefit from extended service and other small incentives. Basically, the automaker was luring in customers to try out a batch of prototypes out in the real world and see if they work properly as daily drivers. The Comotor 995 cc single rotor gasoline engine proved to be adequate, while a dual rotor version actually found its way in a production car, namely the 1974 Citroen GS Birotor. Data on the M35 is quite limited and it is believed only 267 were produced. However, a website specialized in M35s has a listing that goes as far as 473 units. No. 83 on sale The M35 you’re seeing here is chassis number 83 and according to the original ad here, it has been firstly used between ’70 - ’72 somewhere in France, after which it went through two more owners and finally get into a Dutch collector’s hands. If you’re looking for patina, this Citroen M35 has it all. The seller says they only did some mechanical work on it so it can drive away. This includes new tires, brakes and suspension parts, while the rotary engine got dismantled and fitted with a new housing and rotor. Price is currently set at €22,500/$28,112 and the firm says they have at least another one on sale. The No.83 here is said to be part of a 25-unit collection. Editor's note: the original ad is in Dutch so for those not knowing to navigate their way around the website, we pulled out the company's telephone number - 075.6421258 and e-mail - s.aalderink@planet.nl Source: http://www.autoevolution.com/news/rare-citroen-m35-prototype-up-for-sale-photo-gallery-88458.html Rare Citroen M35 Prototype Up for Sale

About Car

A car, or an automobile, is a motor vehicle with wheels. Most definitions of cars state that they run primarily on roads, seat 1-8 people, have four wheels, and mainly transport people rather than cargo. There are over 1.6 billion cars in use worldwide as of 2025. The French inventor Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot built the first steam-powered road vehicle in 1769, while the Swiss inventor François Isaac de Rivaz designed and constructed the first internal combustion-powered automobile in 1808. The mode...
