About Covini Engineering

Covini Engineering is an Italian car manufacturer that was formed in 1978 by Ferruccio Covini. The company is generally best known for the Covini C6W, a 6-wheeled sports car that has two axles (four wheels) in the front of the car. This company Is located in Castel San Giovanni, Piacenza. Covini's first prototype, the Covini T44 Turbo, was a 4x4 off-road vehicle with the exterior body consisting entirely of flat, interchangeable panels. It was powered by a 2,000 cc turbocharged diesel motor. However, the T44 never saw actual production beyond the one prototype. Over the following 20 years, Covini developed several two-door sport cars with diesel engines: the T46, B24, T40, and C36. Only the B24 was produced with about 9 being made (including a few BT424 with Lancia Gamma petrol engine), while the other models remained at prototype level. The B24 was the first diesel car to reach 200 km/h (124 mph), and the C36 in its final prototype form reached 300 km/h (186 mph) with its VM Motori diesel engine. In 2008, after several years of renderings and photographs, Covini officially announced the public release of the C6W.

Covini Engineering — Rare Footage & Clips

Covini Engineering: The Unconventional Pioneers of Italian Automotive Innovation The world of motorsports is replete with innovators who push the boundaries of what's possible on four wheels. Among these trailblazers stands Covini Engineering, an Italian manufacturer that has consistently defied convention and shattered expectations since its inception in 1978. Founded by Ferruccio Covini, this pioneering outfit has left an indelible mark on the automotive landscape with its radical designs and unwavering commitment to innovation.

One of the most striking aspects of Covini's legacy is their willingness to challenge traditional notions of car design. Take, for instance, the Covini C6W – a 6-wheeled sports car that redefines the concept of stability and agility on the road. Featured in our archives is an exclusive clip from the 2008 Geneva Motor Show, where the C6W made its highly anticipated public debut (Covini C6W - 2008 Geneva Motor Show). This remarkable vehicle boasts two axles at the front, a configuration that not only provides unparalleled traction but also serves as a testament to Covini's unorthodox approach to design.

But what makes Covini truly stand out is their fearless experimentation with unconventional powertrains. The T44 Turbo, Covini's first prototype from 1978, was powered by a 2,000 cc turbocharged diesel motor – an unusual choice at the time, but one that would ultimately pave the way for future innovations in diesel technology. This pioneering spirit is evident in our archives, where you can find footage of the T44 Turbo in action (T44 Turbo - Covini's First Prototype). Although it never entered production, this groundbreaking vehicle laid the groundwork for Covini's subsequent focus on high-performance diesel engines.

The B24, Covini's most successful model to date, is a prime example of their commitment to pushing boundaries. With its diesel engine and sleek design, the B24 became the first diesel-powered car to reach 200 km/h (124 mph), shattering preconceptions about the capabilities of diesel technology. Our archives feature an exclusive interview with Ferruccio Covini himself, where he discusses the development of the B24 and its significance in the world of motorsports (Ferruccio Covini - Interview). This remarkable achievement not only showcased Covini's ingenuity but also paved the way for future generations of diesel-powered sports cars.

In recent years, Covini has continued to push the envelope with their C6W, a vehicle that has captivated enthusiasts and industry insiders alike. With its unique 6-wheeled configuration and sleek design, the C6W is an uncompromising statement of intent from a company that refuses to be bound by conventional thinking. As we delve into the world of Covini Engineering, it becomes clear that their significance extends far beyond the realm of automotive innovation.

Interestingly, while Covini's focus has always been on pushing the boundaries of car design and performance, their work has also had an indirect impact on music history. In 1978, the same year Covini was founded, a young musician named Brian Eno released his groundbreaking album "Ambient 1: Music for Airports". While there is no direct connection between Covini's automotive innovations and Eno's ambient soundscapes, both share a common thread – a willingness to challenge conventional norms and explore new frontiers. Just as Covini's C6W redefines the concept of speed and agility on four wheels, Eno's work in the 1970s helped redefine the boundaries of electronic music.

As we continue to explore the fascinating world of Covini Engineering, one thing becomes clear: this Italian manufacturer is more than just a pioneering force in automotive innovation – it's a testament to the power of human ingenuity and creativity. With their unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of what's possible, Covini has left an indelible mark on the world of motorsports, inspiring future generations of innovators and enthusiasts alike.

In our archives, you'll find an extensive collection of footage and interviews that showcase Covini's remarkable journey from humble beginnings to international recognition. From the T44 Turbo to the C6W, every aspect of Covini's story is a testament to their unrelenting passion for innovation and their refusal to be bound by conventional thinking. Whether you're a seasoned car enthusiast or simply someone who appreciates the art of pushing boundaries, Covini Engineering is an absolute must-see – a true marvel of modern automotive ingenuity that continues to captivate and inspire us all.
