The 1958 Ferrari 250GT California Spyder is an iconic sports car that is part of Ferrari's 250 series of cars. It was developed to compete in the GT class of FIA races and first released in 1957. The original California Spyder was powered by an alloy-block 3.0-liter four-cam V-12 engine that produced 300 hp. The car was designed as a two-seater with a low, long nose that blended from the grille to the hood. It had a hand-built aluminum body with faired-in headlights, removable hardtop and a soft top option. The brakes of the car featured four-wheel-ventilated disc brakes, with a transmission featuring a four-speed gearbox, plus reverse. The car could reach speeds up to 140 miles per hour.
