Just Drive It: The Ferrari 250 GTO
What’s all the fuss about? Forget about the value, it’s still a car and it was built to be used. The first owner was an Italian resistance hero and gentleman racer. A very cool Frenchman then kept it for almost 30 years and apparently drove it 300,000km (there’s no odometer but that’s pretty heroic too). Today it’s just me and the keys. About Ferrari 250 GTO
The Ferrari 250 GTO is a grand tourer produced by Ferrari from 1962 to 1964 for homologation into the FIA's Group 3 Grand Touring Car category. It was powered by Ferrari's Tipo 168/62 Colombo V12 engine. The "250" in its name denotes the displacement in cubic centimeters of each of its cylinders; "GTO" stands for Gran Turismo Omologato, Italian for "Grand Touring Homologated".
