2028 Mercedes-AMG GT 55 SUV - FIRST LOOK

Mercedes-AMG just revealed the 2028 GT 55 SUV: up to 805 hp from three electric motors, a 128 kWh battery and charging at up to 710 kW. Is the middle AMG GT SUV the smarter buy than the 63? First look, interior and exterior, and a head to head with the Porsche Cayenne S Electric. In this video we walk around the graphite grey press car from Immendingen: the lit vertical-slat grille, the three red round lamps, the front trunk, the glass roof, the red rotary dials and the rear seats. Mercedes says the 55 charges 10 to 80 percent in 12 minutes, the same as the 63. What it does not get as standard is the Active Ride Control+ suspension, which is only optional on the 55. If you are cross-shopping electric performance SUVs, the Cayenne S Electric starts at $126,300 with 536 hp (657 hp with launch control) and charges at up to 400 kW. US pricing for the GT 55 SUV has not been announced; Mercedes says US dealers get it in summer 2027.
