2017 Mitsubishi ASX pricing and specs

Mitsubishi Australia
2010s2017youtube

The 2017 Mitsubishi ASX is now on sale in Australia, debuting revised styling that first surfaced this time last year for the US market. The only change to the ageing ASX SUV‘s look is the refreshed front, adopting a version of the ‘Dynamic Shield’ design already seen on a dozen concepts – along with the new Pajero Sport and the facelifted Outlander. “The new, Dynamic Shield 2017 ASX will make a bold statement with plenty of youthful appeal and new features to help it remain one of Australia’s most popular small SUVs,” Mitsubishi Australia marketing boss, Tony Principe, said. The ASX’s looks are otherwise unchanged for the new model year, with the profile, rear-end and interior styling of the current range carrying over without a touch.Away from styling, the ASX also picks up a number of smaller tweaks. On the outside, there’s a new ‘shark fin’ antenna on the roof, while the cabin of the entry LS model adds a redesigned seat height adjuster, new cloth seat trim with red contrast stitching, and improved rear comfort with additional seat-base bolstering. A new-shape key fob rounds out the updates to the LS. The up-spec XLS builds on those tweaks by adding relocated heated-seat switches to the instrument panel. The XLS also gets “functional improvements” to the infotainment system, including a new audio menu structure and new graphics designed to improve mobile phone pairing and general menu navigation.Mitsubishi’s small SUV has not followed its siblings into offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, although the company’s local arm has confirmed it is considering its introduction as part of a future update. The ASX’s feature set otherwise carries over unchanged, which includes a five-star ANCAP safety rating, seven airbags, reversing sensors and rear-view camera. As before, buyers can choose either a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with front-wheel drive, which is sold as a five-speed manual or continuously variable transmission (CVT) automatic. Its outputs remain at 110kW of power and 197Nm of torque, while fuel use is rated at 7.6L/100km for the manual or 7.4L/100km for the auto. There’s also a four-wheel drive diesel model, which has a 110kW/360Nm 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo engine. That engine is available solely with a six-speed automatic. The local ASX was most recently updated in June last year, when it gained a minor styling update and new features. Mitsubishi has yet to announce a replacement for the nearly seven-year-old ASX, although an all-new model was spied testing in August.
