We take a look around the Hispano-Suiza Carman Boulogne at Goodwood. Is this a bit of a bonkers design? We think so but is it any good and what is the spec? In September 2021, Hispano-Suiza introduced a special, limited version of its electric hypercar, the Carmen Boulogne. The car underwent extensive visual modifications, losing the characteristic rear wheel cover, and gaining an unpainted, black carbon fiber body enriched with copper inserts.[6] The car also gained a more powerful drive system, in which two more electric motors were added to the standard two electric motors, thus achieving a total power of 1114 hp and 1600 Nm of maximum torque.[6] The car reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.7 seconds, and the top speed is limited to 290 km/h (180 mph). The company planned to construct five copies, with deliveries scheduled for 2022.[6] The price of the vehicle is less than € 2 million.

About Hispano Suiza

Hispano-Suiza (Spanish for 'Spanish-Swiss') is a Spanish automotive company. It was founded in 1904 by Marc Birkigt and Damián Mateu as an automobile manufacturer and by the 1930s had several factories in Spain and one in France that produced luxury cars, aircraft engines, trucks and weapons. In 1923, its French luxury car arm became a semi-autonomous partnership with the Spanish parent company. In 1937, the French arm was taken over by the French state for war production and after World War II...

About This Footage

The Hispano-Suiza Carmen Boulogne - a car that defies convention and pushes the boundaries of automotive design. This footage, captured in 2021 at Goodwood, offers a glimpse into the radical transformation of this Spanish hypercar.

One of the most striking aspects of the Carmen Boulogne is its unconventional design. The unpainted, black carbon fiber body, enriched with copper inserts, gives it an aggressive and futuristic appearance. Gone are the characteristic rear wheel covers that defined the original model; instead, we see a sleek, aerodynamic shape that exudes power and speed.

But what's truly remarkable about this car is its performance capabilities. With two additional electric motors added to the standard two, the Carmen Boulogne now boasts an astonishing 1114 horsepower and 1600 Nm of maximum torque. This translates to breathtaking acceleration - 0-100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds, with a top speed limited to 290 km/h (180 mph).

The Hispano-Suiza company's decision to create this special, limited edition model is a testament to their commitment to innovation and pushing the boundaries of what's possible. With only five copies planned for production, each one will undoubtedly be a prized possession for its owner.

From an engineering perspective, the Carmen Boulogne represents a significant leap forward in electric vehicle technology. The addition of two more motors not only increases power output but also demonstrates the potential for modular design and scalability in EVs. This could have far-reaching implications for the industry as a whole.

But beyond its technical specifications, the Carmen Boulogne is also an exercise in style and design. Hispano-Suiza's decision to showcase this car at Goodwood, one of the world's premier automotive events, suggests that they're confident in its aesthetic appeal. And with good reason - the Carmen Boulogne is undeniably a head-turner, a true showstopper that commands attention.

In conclusion (not!), the Hispano-Suiza Carmen Boulogne is a car that embodies the spirit of innovation and experimentation. Its radical design, combined with its incredible performance capabilities, makes it a truly unique and fascinating vehicle. Whether you're an enthusiast or simply a curious observer, this footage offers a glimpse into the future of automotive design - and one that's both exhilarating and unsettling in equal measure.

The Carmen Boulogne may be a limited edition model, but its impact on the industry will undoubtedly be felt for years to come. As we continue to push the boundaries of what's possible with electric vehicles, cars like this one serve as a reminder of the incredible potential that lies ahead.
