1979 Monaco - BMW M1 Procar Championship (no commentary)

The BMW M1 Procar Championship was a legendary one-make racing series that ran for just two seasons (1979–1980). It is famously remembered as the ultimate "equalizer" in motorsport, where the world's top Formula 1 drivers competed in identical, mid-engined BMW M1s against professional touring and sports car racers. Origin & Concept The series was created by Jochen Neerpasch, head of BMW Motorsport, as a creative solution to a homologation problem. To race the M1 in Group 5 competition, BMW needed to build 400 road-legal units. Rather than waiting for production to finish, Neerpasch launched the Procar series to count the racing versions toward that 400-unit total while providing massive public exposure.
