Porsche Penske & Team JOTA prepare for the 2024 WEC 6 Hours at Imola w/ their Porsche 963 LMDh!

First of all I have to thank the company Kateyama, organizer of numerous test sessions, for allowing photographers and videomakers to witness such a particular test up close, in which some teams from the World Endurance Championship, European Le Mans Series and GT World Challenge participated. Of course I'll share one of my usual general video from these last two-days with you very soon. Instead this first upload is fully focused on the two Porsche 963s of Porsche Penske Motorsport and Hertz Team JOTA which took advantage of the opportunity to prepare for the ever-closer 6 Hours of Imola, the Italian round of the 2024 FIA WEC in April. I know it was very sci-fi but I hoped until the last minute that the Penske was equipped with the new cross-plane 'Evo' engine, which will be used on all 963s, both private and factory ones, after this year's Le Mans 24 Hours. Still the flat-plane V8 in this video, but it was still great to record the cars track-side! The 963 was revealed at the 2022 Festival of Speed and it has been developed under the "Le Mans Daytona h" regulations which allows it to be fielded alongside Le Mans Hypercar entries in the Hypercar class of the FIA WEC or in the GTP class of the IMSA SportsCar Championship. Compared to Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) rule set, in which there's much more freedom in designing the car, LMDh teams are forced to rely on one of the 4 chassis manufacturers chosen by ACO and IMSA (Dallara, Ligier, Multimatic and Oreca) in order to have a base from which to build their own vehicle. And Porsche opted for the Canadian firm Multimatic for their 963. The Porsche 963 is powered by a 4.6-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine which traces its roots to the 918 Spyder.
