Subscribe if you like what I do! https://thecarguyonline for reliability data In this video I go over my real world ownership experience with my 2026 Ram Rebel 1500 and walk through all of the problems issues and small annoyances I have run into so far. This is not a first drive or a quick review this is what it is actually like living with the truck day to day. We start under the hood where there are a few design decisions that immediately stand out including the lack of a traditional oil dipstick and the dual battery setup. While neither of these has caused a failure yet they both add unnecessary complexity and are the type of things that tend to create problems over time especially once these trucks get older. On the exterior I talk about visibility concerns with the hood design as well as paint quality issues that I have noticed not just on this truck but across multiple brands. I also cover the factory Goodyear DuraTrac tires including road noise performance on gravel and how they tend to pick up and throw rocks which can get annoying quickly. We then get into some mechanical observations including brake design where the truck has large rotors but only a two piston caliper setup and how that could have been improved. I also point out exposed wiring harnesses underneath the truck particularly near the rear wheels where they are vulnerable to dirt water and corrosion. These are the types of long term durability concerns that most reviews do not talk about. Underneath the truck I also show the skid plate coverage and areas where Ram did a good job protecting components along with some obvious gaps that could have been addressed. I also go over exhaust routing and how it may make transmission service more difficult than it should be. Inside the truck there are a number of usability issues that stand out including small cup holders awkward placement of heated seat controls inside the touchscreen and some interior trim pieces that can rattle unless you fix them yourself. I also talk about the lack of proximity entry and why that may actually be helping avoid some of the battery drain issues that other owners are experiencing. One of the biggest frustrations so far has been intermittent CarPlay issues through the Uconnect system. The dealer was unable to fix it because they could not reproduce the problem which is something many owners are running into. I also touch on a recall related to the trailer brake control module and another recall involving the digital gauge cluster potentially going black. We also discuss electrical quirks including faint electronic noise and the overall complexity of modern trucks and how that ties into reliability concerns especially with dual battery systems. Finally I answer the big question would I buy this truck again. Despite the issues and annoyances I explain why the powertrain is still the most important factor to me and why the Hurricane engine and ZF eight speed transmission combination gives me confidence compared to other options in the half ton segment right now. If you are considering a 2026 Ram Rebel or any Ram 1500 this video should give you a realistic look at ownership beyond the typical review. These are the kinds of things you only notice after spending real time with the vehicle.
