Originally aired in June 2021. Welcome to the Eastern Block, a different look at car culture in the Eastern Europe. We know of American car culture, we know of Asian car culture, of Western European car culture, but certain regions have been left untouched in the last couple of years. Over the course next few videos I will attempt to paint a clearer picture of what it means to be a motorist and an avid automotive enthusiast in the countries of the former Eastern communist block. You might look at these videos and find nothing extraordinary, and, in a way, this is exactly the point that I am making. We all love exotic, rare cars, luxury cars, high-performance cars, but the fact of the matter is that most of us can’t afford to buy and enjoy them. This is more evident in my home country, as the contrast between automobiles seems the highest one around. Not only in terms of value, but in terms of maintenance standards. I’m sure that this is the case in most Eastern-European countries, as brand new exotic cars are mixing in every-day traffic, made up mostly off beat-up second-hand rejects that the westerners have long since abandoned. This is also one of the main reasons why we have so many diesel fueled cars in the country. As western Europe was once infatuated with the oil-burners and is now switching to hybrid or electric power, countries like Romania are willing to absorb most of the left-overs. And so, the natural question comes to mind: where does this leave us, the self proclaimed Eastern European petrol heads ? I mean, in a drab sea of silver colored diesel hatchbacks, there has to be a flicker of hope, of something distilled and perfected, an essence of automotive fulfillment, if you will. Well, actually, that’s what I’m here to find out; so get comfortable, because over the next few videos I will be showing you what my country’s automotive landscape looks like. Yes, i know, it's a tall order for an aspiring channel, and a first video at that. But never mind all that, let's look at the Ford Focus mk2. And it goes like this: What if you want a sporty car, while still spending cheap money? Welcome to the second generation Ford Focus European model. Although it’s cheap to run and cheaply made, it does offer superior handling and a rewarding driving experience compared to it’s European rivals.
A luxury car is a passenger automobile providing superior comfort levels, features, and equipment. More expensive materials and surface finishes are used, and buyers expect a correspondingly high build quality. The term is relative and unavoidably subjective, reflecting both objective qualities of a car and the projected and perceived image of the vehicle's marque. Luxury brands rank above premium brands, though there is no clear distinction between the two. Luxury cars span from sports cars to ...
