2012 Pirelli Ferrari Classic - Brands Hatch - Race 6 from 308GT4 No 46
Race 6 summary: A great start off the line and we take two cars into Paddock Hill bend, then around the outside of Druids we get another two. I can't believe it, I'm right behind the fantastic lightweight gulf liveried 308GTB of Tomlin with Tim Walker right behind followed by a gaggle of 328's chomping at my tail. Unfortunately the dry weather and the Rosso tyres means the lack of power from the little GT4 is going to make me a sitting duck, but lets have some fun whilst we can. Tim takes two laps to pass, and similarly Richard Allen. Martin Hart is next, with an easy pass on the straight with Peter Evers close behind. As we exit Paddock a recovering Tomlin sprays the track with gravel as we enter Druids. Peter takes another two laps to come through and then I'm surprised to see that young Jack Dwayne is only a few car lengths behind in his Class 1 Mondial. Jack attacks a number of times as I make the GT4 as wide as possible. I keep the inside line into Druids, as Jack darts from side to side, but as I power out of the corner the back tyres let go and as I correct Jack is through. Next up is Didier in the Mondial T who can't quite get through at Paddock. Running through Graham Hill bend he forces the lapping Ben Cartwright wide but loses it as he enters Cascades removing the pressure for the remainder of the race. The GT4 has filled it's catch tank and is lightly smoking, plus we have lost some power with the increased heat so short shift for the finish. Lapping William Moorwood in his GT4 the car is really starting to struggle. Noticing Nick Whittaker is a comfortable distance behind we cruise to the line for a second in class. Phew, that was one hell of a race.
