Chinese automotive giant BYD has officially unveiled the updated Denza Z9 GT, a luxury grand tourer that sets a new world record for the range of a production all-electric car. The updated Denza Z9 GT in its fully electric version has become the world's longest-range production electric vehicle, with up to 1,036 km on a single charge. That's a 64 percent increase over the previous model, which offered 630 kilometers. To achieve these impressive figures, BYD engineers utilized the second-generation Blade Battery 2.0, which offers approximately 5% higher energy density. This enabled the top-spec model to house a massive 122.5 kWh battery pack. One of the standout innovations is Flash-Charge technology. It supports peak charging power of up to 1,500 kilowatts. That means you can go from 10 to 70 percent in just 5 minutes. A full charge from 10 to 97 percent? Only 9 minutes. And even at minus 30 degrees Celsius, charging from 20 to 97 percent takes just 12 minutes. The updated electric car comes in two versions — with one motor or three. The rear-wheel drive model has a single electric motor producing 496 horsepower. The all-wheel drive version gets three electric motors with a combined output of around 1,140 horsepower. The result? Acceleration from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 2.7 seconds. For drivers who aren't quite ready to go fully electric, there's the enhanced plug-in hybrid version. The battery here is 63.8 kilowatt-hours. This is almost twice as much as before. On pure electricity, such a car can travel over 400 kilometers. The hybrid's power plant consists of a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine plus three electric motors, with a total system power of about 870 horsepower. Together, this allows it to accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.6 seconds. The maximum speed is 230 kilometers per hour. With a full tank and charged battery, the total range hits approximately 1,300 kilometers. The car features the advanced God's Eye 5.0 system. It enables Level 2 Plus autonomous driving — both in the city and on the highway. You also get automatic emergency braking and self-parking. All of this is powered by 33 sensors and dual LiDARs. The refreshed Denza Z9 GT comes in five trim levels. Prices in China start from around 39,000 dollars. BYD plans to launch the Denza brand in Europe this year. The Z9 GT will be the flagship model for this European debut. It will go head-to-head with the Porsche Panamera, Audi A6, and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. And given its significantly lower price, it could pose serious competition. #ultrafastcharging #LongestRangeEV #BYD
