Hotel and casino magnate Bill Harrah, the original owner of this 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona, was reportedly approached by a Sikorsky salesman, who offered him a faster way to commute between Reno and Lake Tahoe. Mr. Harrah agreed he would happily buy a helicopter—but only if it could beat him driving the Daytona between two of Harrah’s clubs. The race for the ages went down, whirlybird vs. “Harrah Hot Rod.” Did Mr. Harrah end up placing an order for that helicopter?
