BMW K1300R major service valve clearance check
After some 69,000km I finally gave my 2012 BMW K1300R the valve clearance check you're supposed to do every 30,000km. 0:13 Remove radiator cowls 6:14 Draining coolant 12:50 Remove radiator 23:36 Remove Secondary Air System (SAS) pipe 29:14 Remove spark plugs 31:29 Remove rocker cover and crank bolt cover 39:25 Set engine to TDC 41:12 Measure valve clearances 46:42 Overview of how you would correct valve clearances (I did not need to do this) 50:35 Reinstall rocker cover 53:23 Lubricating the SAS pipe 54:07 Reinstall spark plugs 59:16 Reinstall SAS pipe 1:03:32 Reinstall radiator 1:12:25 Vacuum fill coolant 1:20:46 Air bleed cooling system 1:25:00 Reinstall radiator cowls It's an easy enough job but I figured I'd record it for the community, as there are some "gotchas" regarding the Secondary Air injection System (SAS) pipe, and the refilling of your coolant. The information provided here can also be used for servicing of the following models: - K1300S/GT - K1200R/S (was there a GT?)
