Should you really buy a Denza B5? The B5 is China and BYD’s luxury answer to the Toyota Prado, Ford Everest or Lexus GX with a 400kW (536hp) PHEV system and hydraulic suspension. Chasing Cars founder Tom Baker compares the 2026 Denza B5 (Fangchengbao Bao 5) to a benchmark luxury 4WD, the Lexus GX550 Overtrail, in today’s comparison, to work out whether it really makes sense to buy a new Chinese premium SUV instead of a tried and tested Toyota.
