The Porsche 963 is an advanced LMDh sports prototype racing car designed to compete in the Hypercar and GTP classes of the FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA SportsCar Championship. Revealed at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the car features a twin-turbocharged V8 engine developed from the Porsche 918 Spyder, paired with hybrid components from Williams Advanced Engineering, Bosch, and Xtrac. Its name pays homage to the legendary Porsche 956 and 962 racing cars from the 1980s. The 963 made its official race debut at the 2023 24 Hours of Daytona, with Porsche allocating four cars to customers at $2.9 million each. In its second year of competition, the Porsche Penske Motorsport team achieved significant success, winning seven of eight possible global titles and demonstrating impressive performance and reliability improvements.
