Vibrant 1040 muffler on Acura Vigor, annoying whistle at high rpm
We believe this annoying whistling above 6,000rpm is due to the dual exit design of the muffler where internally there is an aggressive "Y" split that the single straight through exhaust path feeds into the dual tips. This split is sharp and rather rudimentary in design causing the high rate of air flowing across it to become turbulent and creating an unbalanced pressure differential inside the muffler itself. Bernoulli effect!
