From Reseal to Rebuild: Upgrading Everything Behind My E39 M5 Engine! — RedlineArchive

After pulling the transmission to reseal it, the simple job turned into a full-blown performance overhaul! What started as a reseal became the perfect excuse to upgrade nearly everything behind the engine. I installed a Partee Racing LTW dual mass flywheel paired with a Sachs Organic clutch for smoother, sharper engagement. While the clutch was out, I tackled a few “while you’re in there” jobs — new rear main seal assembly, coolant crossover caps, and the main coolant plate on the back of the block. On the transmission side, I fitted a Partee Racing stainless clutch line, an 850CSi slave cylinder, and topped it off with fresh transmission fluid for a crisp, precise pedal feel. With the exhaust off, I couldn’t resist upgrading that too — adding v-band clamps to all slip fittings and fabricating a custom muffler section with quad tips, just like the legendary E39 M5. This build took the project from maintenance mode to full performance refresh — and the results speak for themselves.
