About Facel Vega

Facel S.A. was a French manufacturer of pressed steel automobile components and, subsequently, complete automobiles of their own design. To intensify its World War II war effort, French subcontracting company for military aeronautics Bronzavia created a subsidiary called Facel (acronym of Forges et Ateliers de Constructions d'Eure-et-Loir) in December 1939. About This Footage

The Facel Vega, a stalwart of French automotive design, takes center stage in this 22-minute documentary. The clip, aptly titled "Facel Vega: The Cabal's Car," offers a fascinating glimpse into the history and allure of this iconic vehicle.

One of the most striking aspects of the Facel Vega is its association with the elite of society. As the narrator notes, these cars were owned by "just about anybody who was anybody." This exclusivity only adds to the car's mystique, making it a coveted possession among collectors and enthusiasts alike. The question remains, however, why the Facel Vega has largely faded from popular culture.

The clip's inclusion of vintage footage and interviews with industry experts provides valuable insight into the design and production process behind the Facel Vega. The commentary from Quentin Wilson, a well-known automotive journalist, offers a detailed analysis of the car's features and capabilities. Meanwhile, Baron Rix shares his personal experiences with owning a Facel Vega, providing a unique perspective on the vehicle's appeal.

The documentary also delves into the history of Facel S.A., the French manufacturer responsible for producing the Facel Vega. Founded as a pressed steel automobile component supplier, the company eventually transitioned to designing and building complete automobiles. This evolution is a testament to the innovative spirit that defined the automotive industry in post-war France.

The inclusion of vintage music in the soundtrack adds a nostalgic touch to the documentary. The selection of French popular songs from the 1950s and '60s perfectly complements the era in which the Facel Vega was produced. The use of "Et maintenant" by Gilbert Bécaud and Pierre Delanoë, for example, sets the tone for the rest of the film.

The documentary's value lies not only in its historical significance but also in its ability to transport viewers back to an era of elegance and refinement. The Facel Vega represents a bygone age of automotive design, where style and sophistication were paramount. As such, it serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving our cultural heritage, particularly when it comes to iconic vehicles like the Facel Vega.

The clip's inclusion in RedlineArchive is a testament to our commitment to showcasing rare and unique footage from the world of automobiles. The "Facel Vega: The Cabal's Car" documentary offers a captivating look into the history and allure of this French icon, making it an essential watch for anyone interested in automotive design and culture.
