About Ascari Cars

Ascari Cars Ltd. was a British automobile manufacturer based in Banbury, England, and founded by Klaas Zwart. Zwart was the former chairman and majority owner of oil and gas company Petroline, which designed and manufactured its own downhole technology. Petroline was purchased by Weatherford in 1999. Ascari Cars — Rare Footage & Clips

Ascari Cars, a name that echoes through the annals of automotive history, its significance not limited to the world of speed and steel alone. Founded by Klaas Zwart, a man with a background in the oil and gas industry, this British manufacturer left an indelible mark on the landscape of high-performance vehicles.

One can't help but be drawn to the sleek lines and aerodynamic design of Ascari's offerings, as showcased in our archive footage. The 2006 Ascari KZ1, for instance, is a testament to the company's commitment to creating cars that not only pushed the boundaries of speed but also of style. Its aggressive stance, angular lines, and gaping air intakes all contribute to an overall aesthetic that screams performance.

The clip from our archive featuring the Ascari A10 is particularly noteworthy, as it captures the raw power and agility of this car in motion. The way it navigates the twists and turns of a winding road, its tires screeching in protest, is a thrilling spectacle that leaves one wanting more.

But what's equally fascinating about Ascari Cars is their nod to motorsport history. Named after Alberto Ascari, the first double winner of the World Championship of Drivers, this company clearly drew inspiration from the world of racing. And it's not just the name – the cars themselves are a testament to the company's ambition to create vehicles that would be at home on the track.

In fact, one could argue that Ascari Cars' significance extends beyond the realm of automotive history. The company's founder, Klaas Zwart, had a background in the oil and gas industry, which is perhaps where the connection to music history comes in – or rather, doesn't come in. There seems to be no direct link between Zwart's work at Petroline (which was later purchased by Weatherford) and any notable musical endeavors.

However, one might argue that the company's bankruptcy in 2010 has a certain resonance with the ephemeral nature of music careers – just as a musician's star can rise and fall in an instant, so too did Ascari Cars' fortunes. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2010, marking the end of its brief but storied existence.

Despite its relatively short lifespan, Ascari Cars left behind a legacy that continues to captivate enthusiasts today. The archive footage we've collected is a testament to the company's innovative spirit and commitment to pushing the boundaries of what's possible with cars. Whether you're a seasoned car aficionado or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of high-performance vehicles, Ascari Cars is sure to leave an impression.

As one delves deeper into the world of Ascari Cars, it becomes clear that this company was driven by a passion for speed and a desire to create something truly unique. From its sleek designs to its commitment to performance, every aspect of Ascari's offerings screams "racing" – or at least, racing-inspired.

The company's use of advanced materials and cutting-edge technology is particularly noteworthy, as showcased in our clip featuring the Ascari KZ1. This car's aggressive stance and angular lines are not just aesthetically pleasing; they also serve a purpose – to slice through the air with minimal resistance and maximize speed.

But what's perhaps most fascinating about Ascari Cars is its connection to the world of motorsport. Named after Alberto Ascari, this company clearly drew inspiration from the world of racing. And it's not just the name – the cars themselves are a testament to the company's ambition to create vehicles that would be at home on the track.

In many ways, Ascari Cars' story is one of tragedy and missed opportunities. Founded by Klaas Zwart with the aim of creating high-performance vehicles, the company ultimately fell victim to its own ambitions – or rather, the lack thereof. Despite its innovative spirit and commitment to performance, Ascari Cars was unable to sustain itself in a crowded market.

And yet, despite this setback, the legacy of Ascari Cars lives on. The archive footage we've collected is a testament to the company's innovative spirit and commitment to pushing the boundaries of what's possible with cars.
