2020 BMW 4er The 2020 BMW 4 Series represented the final model year of the first-generation (F32) 4 Series before the significant redesign in 2021. As a result, it featured minor changes but offered a refined balance of performance, luxury, and style. The lineup included a coupe, convertible, and four-door Gran Coupe. What's new for 2020 For 2020, BMW added several features as standard across the 4 Series lineup to boost its value: Standard safety features: Automated emergency braking, forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, and lane-departure warning were all made standard. Minor cosmetic changes: The car received minor styling tweaks, including darker taillights and black grille surrounds on some versions. Interior and exterior additions: New options like Mocha Dakota leather, carbon-fiber trim, new wheel designs, and new paint colors (Mediterranean Blue and Sunset Orange) were introduced. Updated technology: Standard tech included keyless entry, an 8.8-inch display with navigation, and Apple CarPlay with a one-year subscription. Performance and specifications 430i: This model was powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 248 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. It came standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, with xDrive (all-wheel drive) optional. 440i: The 440i featured a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine, which made 320 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. It was available with a six-speed manual transmission on some models and came standard with the eight-speed automatic. M4: The high-performance M4 was also available in 2020, powered by a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline-six. This engine produced up to 444 horsepower in special editions. Interior and technology Driver-focused design: The 2020 4 Series provided an excellent driving position and ample passenger space for a two-door vehicle. Materials and finishes were high-quality, though some critics found the overall design beginning to feel a bit dated. Technology: An 8.8-inch infotainment display was standard, and it was controlled by the intuitive iDrive system, with a rotary control knob on the center console. Optional features included a digital instrument cluster and a head-up display. Comfort and space: Standard features included power-adjustable front sport seats and dual-zone climate control. While the coupe offered decent trunk space and a pass-through to the cabin, interior storage was limited. Trim levels 430i and 440i: The main trim levels were available in coupe, convertible, and Gran Coupe body styles. Each could be equipped with xDrive all-wheel-drive. M Sport Package: This popular package added more aggressive styling, a sport-tuned suspension, and upgraded interior elements. Convertible-specific features: The 4 Series Convertible featured a power-operated retractable hardtop and a wind deflector.
Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is a form of engine and transmission layout used in motor vehicles, in which the engine drives the rear wheels only. Until the late 20th century, rear-wheel drive was the most common configuration for cars. Most rear-wheel drive vehicles feature a longitudinally-mounted engine at the front of the car.
