But the first products were not cars - at that time the company specialized in motorcycles and scooters. However, Honda always had big ambitions, including producing cars and own factories abroad. One of the first models was a small roadster called the S 600. Honda introduced it in 1964, a cute two-seater convertible with extremely modest dimensions. It only put out 57 hp but showed excellent performance as it weighed only 680 kg. Interestingly, the S 600 had a chain drive, which was a primitive motorcycle transmission system. In 1967 Honda introduced the S 800, a revised and more efficient version with a 70 hp engine, also available as a coupe.
