About Car

A car, or an automobile, is a motor vehicle with wheels. Most definitions of cars state that they run primarily on roads, seat 1-8 people, have four wheels, and mainly transport people rather than cargo. There are over 1.6 billion cars in use worldwide as of 2025. The French inventor Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot built the first steam-powered road vehicle in 1769, while the Swiss inventor François Isaac de Rivaz designed and constructed the first internal combustion-powered automobile in 1808. About This Footage

The Yema Auto Luxury Collection footage, uploaded in 2002, is a fascinating glimpse into the early days of Chinese automobile manufacturer Sichuan Yema Automobile Co., Ltd. The clip, lasting 3:14 minutes, showcases various prototype vehicles from the company's fledgling lineup.

What makes this footage notable is its rarity as an early example of Chinese automotive manufacturing. In the early 2000s, China was rapidly industrializing and expanding its automotive sector. Companies like Yema Auto were at the forefront of this growth, seeking to establish themselves in a market dominated by established global players.

The clip highlights several prototype vehicles, including the SQJ6480 Estate, SQJ6485 Estate SUV, and Van (SQJ6450/6450N), which bears an uncanny resemblance to the Austin Maestro van. These models demonstrate Yema Auto's efforts to create a diverse range of products catering to various market segments.

One of the most intriguing aspects of this footage is its focus on non-production models. The Spica, for instance, is an MPV designed in the likeness of the Toyota Alphard. Similarly, the F10 and F12 are prototype CUVs inspired by the Subaru Forester and Audi's design language, respectively. These designs showcase Yema Auto's willingness to experiment with different styles and influences.

The clip also touches on the company's New Energy Vehicle (NEV) initiatives, specifically highlighting the EC70 electric CUV based on the T70 platform. This early foray into electric vehicles demonstrates Yema Auto's forward-thinking approach to addressing emerging market trends.

While some of these prototypes may not have seen production, they provide valuable insight into Yema Auto's development trajectory and design philosophy during this period. The footage serves as a testament to the company's commitment to innovation and its efforts to establish itself in the competitive global automotive landscape.

The clip's YouTube description, replete with Russian and Chinese keywords, suggests that it was likely created for an internal or regional audience. Nevertheless, its significance extends beyond its intended purpose, offering a unique window into China's early 2000s automotive industry.

In conclusion, the Yema Auto Luxury Collection footage is a rare and fascinating artifact from the early days of Chinese automobile manufacturing. It provides a glimpse into the company's design philosophy, innovation efforts, and market aspirations during this pivotal period in its history.
