BMW Spartanburg Plant Tour for the debut of the 2015 BMW X6
The BMW Group recently celebrated the anniversary of its first two decades of production at the Spartanburg plant in the US state of South Carolina. Constructed in a record time of just 23 months, the plant has enjoyed a fast-moving and consistently successful career ever since production began in 1994. To date, approximately 2.8 million BMW models have come off the lines at the US plant and been shipped to customers in 140 markets all over the world. The production lines at the plant, which in the meantime has become the competence centre for BMW X models, now build four different X models and their derivatives. The BMW X6 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV by German automaker BMW. The BMW X6 is the originator of the sports activity coupé (SAC), referencing its sloping rear roof design. It combines the attributes of an SUV (high ground clearance, all-wheel drive and all-weather ability, large wheels and tires) with the stance of a coupé (styling featuring a sloping roof).
