The Ferrari 250 GT LWB Berlinetta Interim s/n 1461GT is one of only seven examples built in 1959. These GT racecars combined the mechanical components known from the 250 GT LWB Berlinetta „Tour de France“ with the body design of the upcoming 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Competizione, although still on the TdF's 2.600 mm wheelbase instead of the future SWB's 2.400 mm one. S/N 1461GT had been entered by the official Ferrari importer for the USA, Luigi Chinetti Motors, in the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans with the Belgio-American team of André Pilette and George Arents sharing the wheel. They drove the brandnew car to a fantastic 4th overall and to 2nd in the GT category! The car wore a yellow livery back then. Between 1979 and 2014, s/n 1461GT had slumbered as a highly original restoration project in the massive car collection of the late Fabrizio Violati in Italy. From 1990 onwards, the Interim had been on static display in Violati‘s „Maranello Rosso Collection“ in San Marino. From 2019 through 2022, s/n 1461GT has been fully restored in its 1959 Le Mans livery by Bacchelli & Villa of Bastiglia near Modena. On September 28, 2021 the representative of the German company which owned the car at that time and which had ordered the ground-up restoration test drove the car for the first time after the works had been widely completed. #ferrari250 #classicferrari #bacchelli
