1926 Chevrolet Superior Sedan

1926 Chevrolet Sedan The Chevrolet Superior was introduced in 1923 and continued for 4 years before being replaced in 1927. You don't see a ton of these still around so it is very special to be able to offer up a 26 Chevy in such good condition. You see a lot of Fords but not nearly as many Chevys of this vintage which really makes this one stand out. The car is titled as a 1926 but based on some of the features we think it is actually a 1925. Either way, the car is a really clean example of one of these old Superiors and has been very well maintained. The current owner purchased the car in late 1999 from a GM dealer in Akron, Ohio. The prior owner had the car for 10 years before trading it in and the person prior to him also owned it for around 10 years. The 4 door sedan body is in good condition and the rear suicide doors allow you to open it up to get full access to the interior. It is painted in a nice Green and Black color combo. The Black section above the Green paint is the original lacquer and the original Black canvas roof. The car has had some repairs and restoration work done over the years but has been kept very original. In 2020 the running boards and fenders were all redone. All of the wood is in good condition and free of any rot. This is very important on these old Chevys. They are blocked out in our pictures but the car also comes with a very rare pair of 1926 Texas license plates that would run you a few grand to replace. All of the glass is in great shape and the front windshield raises to allow air flow into the interior. All of the doors shut well and all windows work properly. It rides on its original spoke wheels and the fronts are painted Black. In back it has the rear mounted spare and a nice trunk to store all your car show gear. On the drivers side the car also has a small luggage rack on the running board. The car is powered by its original 171 ci overhead valve inline 4 24.6 hp motor. The engine runs very well and does not smoke. It has been rebuilt in the past but the exact date of the rebuild is unknown. It is backed by a 3 speed manual transmission that shifts properly. As mentioned before the car has been kept very original except for a few things. The modifications include the rear axle bearings have been replaced with a sealed permanently lubed type, the throw out bearing was converted from the Carbon Disk to a modern permanent lube type, a replacement speedometer was added which is the 1929 version and a 6 volt electric fuel pump was installed however the original vacuum system is restored and in place. Some of the restoration work includes a new electrical harness in 2020, rebuilt distributor/starter/generator in 2017 and a new clutch/throw out bearing in 2016. The result is a great running little 26. The interior of the car consists of dual bench seats which have been redone at some point in its life. The headliner and door panels however are all original. They look remarkably good considering their age. The car even has the pull down curtains over the rear windows. Everything on the car is in place and working properly, even the interior dome light. The only thing that isn't functioning properly is the windshield wiper which does work intermittently. The car comes with a lot of extras including 2 brake drums, new brake linings, a complete distributor, new and used spark plugs, 1 rear axle, several sets of points, and a distributor cap.
