Event: Wings Over Wairarapa 2021 Date: 26& 27 February Vehicle: 1965 Gulf Almac Cobra 427R ------------------------------------------------ 1965 GULF ALMAC COBRA 427R ------------------------------------------------ The Cobra was built in Upper Hutt in 1989 by Graeme Berry as a replica of a Shelby Cobra 427. The body is made of Kevlar, the motor is a 1960’s The body is made of Kevlar, the engine is an LS7 454 big block Chevrolet ls7 race motor from the 1960s making around 650hp. Bevan Wright has owned the car for about 30 years. Replaced just about every part over the years, including blowing the motor up for the practice of Wings over Wairarapa last round. The Cobra has raced in all sorts of events, used as a race car at events from street sprints, circuit racing, the Leadfoot Festival, The Wellington street race and many more.
