The Slate Truck is officially one of the most interesting new vehicles of the year. With a starting price around $25,000, this compact electric pickup is positioned as the cheapest new pickup truck in America. But reaching that price required Slate to remove many features buyers now take for granted, including power windows, a built-in stereo and a traditional infotainment touchscreen. In this complete Slate Truck review, we break down five reasons to buy the Slate and five reasons you may want to avoid it. We examine the Slate Truck price, electric powertrain, battery options, charging capability, payload capacity, towing limits, interior design and real-world usability. We also look closely at the Slate Truck range and whether the standard battery provides enough flexibility for commuting, local work and occasional longer trips. The Slate may be one of the best affordable electric trucks for buyers with predictable daily mileage and home charging, but its limited range and basic equipment may not work for everyone. One of the Slate’s most unusual features is its modular design. Every vehicle begins as a two-seat electric pickup, but buyers can add a Slate Truck SUV conversion that creates a five-passenger Squareback or Fastback SUV. This gives owners the ability to purchase the basic truck first and add passenger space later, although the conversion and other accessories can significantly increase the final cost. The headline price also does not tell the complete story. Adding the larger battery, SUV kit, exterior wrap, power windows, audio equipment, upgraded wheels and storage accessories could push a well-equipped Slate into the mid-$30,000 range. At that point, the comparison becomes much more complicated. That is why we also discuss Slate Truck vs Ford Maverick. The Maverick costs more at the entry level, but it includes four doors, five seats, power windows, a touchscreen, built-in audio and support from an established dealer network. The Slate counters with electric power, compact dimensions, a five-foot bed and a highly customizable design. For buyers searching for the best affordable trucks, the decision may come down to simplicity versus everyday convenience. The Slate could be an excellent compact work truck, local commuter or second household vehicle. However, buyers needing serious towing capability, frequent highway range or comfortable family transportation may find the Ford Maverick or another compact pickup easier to live with. We also cover the latest Slate Truck release date information, production plans and the Slate Truck preorder process, including the non-refundable deposit required to secure a production window. Is the Slate Truck a brilliantly simple electric pickup, or does it become too expensive once you add the equipment most buyers actually want? Watch the full video to see whether the Slate belongs among the best affordable electric trucks and whether its low starting price is enough to make it one of the best affordable trucks on the market. About Truck

A truck or lorry is a motor vehicle designed to transport freight, carry specialized payloads, or perform other utilitarian work. Trucks vary greatly in size, power, and configuration, but the vast majority feature body-on-frame construction, with a cabin that is independent of the payload portion of the vehicle. Smaller varieties may be mechanically similar to some automobiles. Commercial trucks can be very large and powerful and may be configured to be mounted with specialized equipment, such ...
