The #legendary #driver and one of the most successful #riders in the history of the famous #Dakar #Rally, #Karel #Loprais, died at the age of 72. His son Leo confirmed the information for Deník.cz. Loprais won a total of six championships in the truck category on the #African #continent Shortly before the start of the new year of the famous rally race, one of its most successful drivers died. Loprais started for the first time in the Dakar in 1986 as a mechanic and test driver, a year later he won second place in the truck category as a driver. In 1988, "#Monsieur Dakar" finished first. He managed to control the Dakar five more times between 1988 and 2001 behind the wheel of a Tatra truck. Only one competitor scored one more championship, the Russian Vladimír Čagin.
