It packs a 611-horsepower turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 and an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that should enable a 0-60 mph time at under 3.5 seconds. The usual suspects appear on the options list, and they are every bit as expensive here as they are elsewhere in the line. If you want the car painted in a “Ferrari historical color,” you’ll pay around $12,500, while the available Magneride dual-mode suspension costs nearly $5,600. While the new twin-turbo 488 GTB is all the rage these days, we must not forget about the last mid-engine twin-turbo Ferrari - the F40. The F40 features a 2.9L twin-turbo V8 and served as the successor to the 288 GTO, but you already knew that. It channels a healthy 710 horsepower through the rear wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission. With a throaty exhaust note, it can sprint from 0-60 seconds in a hair under three seconds. Expected sometime in 2020, the new Roma is a four-passenger grand touring coupe that’s said to be engineered with enough refinement and comfort to be used as a daily driver. The difference in the upgrade between a Performance and Performance w/ Ludicrous Mode Model S, for example, is merely the acceleration capacity of the vehicle. Ferrari is the newest of all Italian automotive marques save for Lamborghini and Pagani. Alfa Romeo, FIAT, Lancia, Maserati, Bugatti (if it is technically an Italian company) are all older than Ferrari, by at least thirty-plus years. While much is said about Ferrari and it is talked about with such reverence, it is not the oldest Italian marque. Ferrari has never made an SUV and most likely intends to never make one. A fire extinguisher costs over $1,000, and if you smoke, you’ll have to pay upwards of $800 for what amounts to an ashtray and lighter. Nevertheless, the Model X seats 7 and boasts a 0-to-60 mph acceleration of 2.8 seconds in its Ludicrous Mode model – an unprecedented feat in the EV industry. Generally known as the Tesla Crossover, the Model X is the fastest sport utility vehicle in the automobile industry. The Performance line will always have a faster 0-to-60 miles per hour acceleration and overall faster top speed, but it does not have a longer range overall in terms of miles traveled. Similar to Apple’s product release strategy with its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S pairings, the Performance models are meant to provide a slight product upgrade for the true Tesla fanatic. Try to drive a sports car, whether it is a Ferrari or another brand - a true sports car - and then try to jump in an SUV. It can be a fast car, but the weight of the car, the position of driving, it’s a different concept,” Galliera says. And Ferrari is competing against not only specialist car brands, such as Lamborghini or Porsche, but generalist car makers including Mercedes and Audi who are also actively seeking to capture their share of the specialist market. Ferrari’s representation in the region is about to get a whole lot more significant, as the firm revealed it will increase its car production to 7,900 this year, up from 7,664 last year. “So sometimes we have a question on what is the difference of Ferrari versus other sports car manufacturers. Even the car maker’s Ferrari World theme park in Abu Dhabi is doing well. A second is being built in Spain and Ferrari has recently signed an agreement to develop a third park in China. “This is one of the most common questions and, as always, we like to answer in the same way, which is ‘no’. We don’t have any plans to develop an SUV simply because we believe that it is not consistent with our company strategy. They can answer much better than I can, because they have the passion, the feeling. They can feel the difference of driving a car that is not only delivering performance, but also emotion that some other cars are not able to deliver. In the first quarter of 2016, Ferrari revealed an $88m profit, a 19 percent rise since the same time last year. It sold 1,882 cars in the first quarter, marking a 15 percent rise from the same period in 2015. The high numbers are largely due to sales rising by double-digits in Europe, China and the Middle East. Apple CarPlay, which is included with many lesser cars, costs over $4,000 here. A matching golf bag, should you choose to play through, is priced at around $11,000. New for 2020, the F8 Tributo is a gracefully cast two-seat coupe with an abundance of exterior curves and slashes that beg a closer look from every angle. It comes powered by a mid-mounted twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 engine it shares with the 488 Pista. The latter, Galliera says, is especially important
