Why I Traded my Toyota Tacoma for a 4Runner

After roughly 6 years and 60,000 miles, I decided to trade my 2019 Toyota Tacoma for a 2021 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium. After putting about 10,000 miles on the 4Runner in the last year, I'm extremely happy with my trade, even after the $5,500 premium that the 4Runner had over the Tacoma. Some of the main reasons I switched to a 4Runner is that I am able to comfortably sleep inside the car, my gear stays dry and dust free when traveling, I maintain a simple and intuitive interior, I maintain Toyota reliability with the 4.0L V6 and 5-speed automatic transmission, as well as an improvement in overall build quality when compared to the Tacoma. The Tacoma was a great truck for the time I had it with only one real issue which was a master clutch cylinder replacement that was quickly repaired under warranty. Other than that, my needs changed as I began to car camp more and use my car for landscape photography, skiing, golf trips, road trips, and family visits. Plus, my fuel economy is virtually the same in the 4Runner as it was in the Tacoma, only about 1 mpg less in the 4Runner.
