This is the IMV Origin, which stands for Innovative International Modular Vehicle. It was displayed at JMS 25 as both a full-size mock-up and a 1/24th scale plastic model kit, produced in conjunction with BANDAI. The idea for the IMV origin came from a visit to Africa by a Toyota group. They saw a transportation gap between the overloaded motorcycles and the heavily modified Kei-Trucks. They decided to create a vehicle for rural villagers in Africa, which has two distinct design features. 1. Toyota will ship this vehicle unfinished as a self assembled SKD (Semi-Knock Down) kit of parts. This gives local people the chance to assemble and complete it themselves, or as a job in a local factory. 2. Customers will able to define what the vehicle is and does, so either carry people or cargo. The cargo bed can be expanded to suit different types of goods. Toyota is also working to ensure that the IMV Origin consists of locally available parts. Toyota said that the IMV Origin is a vehicle that takes on the challenge of constant reinvention based on the concept of "deliberate incompleteness””, said Koji Sato, President & CEO, Member of the Board of Directors (Representative Director) on the 29th of October 2025 To show the potential uses and forms of the IMV Origin, Toyota partnered with BANDAI to create a 1/24 scale plastic kit (using recycle plastic). At JMS 25, children and adults alike could create their own vision of an IMV Origen. Toyota even created a structure that resembled a full size version of what was in the BANDAI IMV Origen box. No details on the power unit or the size of the vehicle were given at the JMS 25. However, Toyota may have tapped into the technical knowhow of group member Daihatsu and their Kei truck experience. Approx dimensions of IMV origin could be: width…………………1475mm length……………… 3250mm wheelbase………..1900mm Suspension….. independent front and beam Axel rear Filmed from the 29th to the 31st of October 2025 Link. https://global.toyota/info/jms2025/jp/toyota/
