In the mid-1990s, Ford’s Advanced Engineering division built two completely different V12 engines. The GT90’s 6.0L V12 was Modular-based — essentially two V8s fused together. But this one — the Indigo’s 6.0L V12 — is even rarer. Built from two 3.0L Duratec V6s joined at the crank, this prototype was developed as the power source for the 1996 Ford Indigo Concept, designed by Claude Lobo and Ford Advanced Engineering. Most believed the Indigo’s spare engine was lost to time. But it wasn’t. It survives today — a fully functional, test-ready Duratec-based V12, preserved by Hajek Motorsports in Ames, Oklahoma.
