When you gather a group of designers and engineers, and you tell them to go crazy, let your imaginations go wild, don't worry about funds, the sky is the limit, the Vision GT SV is what the folks from Jaguar came up with.
It's an All-electric virtual endurance race car designed by Jaguar and engineered by Jaguar SV for Gran Turismo, so if you know about the game or played it before, you'd be familiar with it. Its bonnet is elongated, it's low, it goes wider towards the back, and the wing is sooo big, drag and downforce would be the least of your worries. In fact, it's wider than my height, just to put it to scale and I love how they have created an illusion that it's floating or hanging by just two pillars on the back. It has two moveable sections that automatically rise at speed to deliver extra downforce when needed but drop back to their nominal positions to minimize drag.
The Vision GT Coupé’s elegant silhouette is still clearly recognizable in the GT SV, including the curvature of the C-type and D-type-inspired fenders, and – even with the additional motor driving the front axle – the wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,721mm.
It's Developed from the existing Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Coupé and just like the existing version, this SV is built to deliver extreme performance, traction, and high-speed stability. Look at the wheels, the wing, all the vents, it's designed to keep the engine cool as well as the liquid cooling system. The wheels are designed to allow air passing through it to be smoothed towards the rear via exit vents in the fenders. The GT SV has a remarkably low drag coefficient for a race car – but also generates 483kg of downforce at 200mph.
Unlike any other car development, the Vision Gran Turismo SV is fully engineered in the virtual world with aerodynamics optimized, tested, and proven using state-of-the-art simulation tools, mathematics and physics are as far as it goes when it comes to limitations.
Jaguar is very prominent in Formula E, I'm still an F1 and so I'm gradually buying into it, the Vision GT SV has Four electric motors developed by Jaguar Racing and delivers 1,903PS (1,400kW), for 0-60mph in just 1.65 seconds, 255mph top speed and 3,360Nm of instant torque with the traction and dynamics benefits of intelligent all-wheel drive and torque vectoring.
Jaguar Vision GT SV combines iconic design references from C-type, D-type, XJR-9, and radical XJR-14 with innovative future technology to create the ultimate Jaguar race car for gamers. Love the look of the interior as well, and although we couldn't open the door which is by lifting the top half up, we could still see through it to see the single frame, sculptured seats, a detachable steering wheel, and also a hologram projector. Jaguar also envisions that you'd be able to gain entry using your fingerprint.
