1906 Ford Model N

Ford Model N
youtube

An older gentleman starts up his very original 1906 Ford Model N at a car show recently. The car still had the origninal leather and horse hair seats, wood body, cast flywheel/fan, and faded pinstripes. The hood is a heavy cast iron piece and it's laying upside down in the storage bin behind the seat so you can see the engine. It's not hinged like the model T. The car looked every bit of 100 years old but it's amazing there are any still out there as original as this. It fired right up though. Just one pull on the crank and it was running. It started so quickly I missed it as I tried to switch my iPhone on and change it to video. The blaring music is from the car show 'DJ'. Henry designed the early Fords so that the owner could add whatever updates were to come out on the newer models - he believed in the opposite of planned obsolecence. This car has the wide track and fenders that came out in 1908.

The 15 hp straight-four drove the rear wheels via a long shaft. This was also the first American car to use vanadium steel. The car had a wheelbase of 84 in (2,100 mm). ...
