Toyota Townace Restoration - Gilbert
Half delirious, fully stoked! Gilbert was a 7 month restoration project of ours that we made happen just in the nick of time. While we typically focus on Mitsubishi branded vans, this Toyota was too awesome to pass up. Its pop top, 6 sleeper setup with a kitchen, refrigerator, water supply and on board auxiliary battery has unbeatable compact camping efficiency. Not as fast as he looks, Gilbert has a 2C naturally aspirated diesel engine from 1991. It can get up to 26 miles per gallon, rolling coal. With the addition of a turbo, this really could be the ultimate go-anywhere vehicle. For now, its a light offroader and 65 mph cruiser for 6. Keep an eye out on the west coast for this premium pig.
