LOCATION: Pieria is one of the regional units of Greece located in the southern part of the Region of Central Macedonia, within the historical province of Macedonia. Its capital is the town of Katerini. A total of 30 locomotives were built in two batches between 1996 and 2005. HellasSprinter locomotives are based on the EuroSprinter "ES 64P" prototype,which was adapted for a lower power of (5,000kW / 6,700hp),a lower weight of 80 tonnes and electric components suitable for the Greek 25 kV AC - 50 Hz system.
