La 24h di Le Mans è una tra le competizioni che ci ha donato più miti, leggende e gare epiche. Come, ad esempio, quella volta che Porsche disegnò una vettura per sbaragliare la concorrenza, la 911 GT1, e si ritrovò a prenderle sonoramente da un Team privato. Che, tra le altre cose, correva con una vettura costruita da Porsche stessa mettendo assieme un telaio TWR costruito per Jaguar vecchio di 6 anni e un motore Porsche appena mandato in pensione.
