This is the all-new DS 9, and Mat’s about to find out if this luxurious French saloon has what it takes to compete with its German counterparts! For starters, it’s clearly quite striking on the road. There’s a big grille upfront, along with a strip down the middle of the bonnet - just like you’ll see on a Mercedes Maybach! There are creases down the side and a whole lot of chrome around the back. In fact, the rear even reminds us of an E-Class! Once you step inside, there are a whole load of plush materials throughout the cabin, as well as large infotainment and digital dial screens. However, neither run as well as what you might find in a Mercedes. But then again, with a starting price of just £40,000, they’re not exactly bad! In terms of performance, the range-topping DS 9 comes equipped with a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine along with dual-electric motors. All combined, they are good for 360hp. So what do you think - can the DS 9 compete with class leaders like the S-Class? Or are you better off saving up and going German? You’ll have to stick with Mat to find out!
