Toyota will introduce a two-seater compact EV next year in Japan with an initial sales target of around 100 vehicles for business and local government. Toyota compact EV will have some compact specs: it will run100 km (60 miles) per single charge and will cost around $16,000. The rollout will be in line with the Japanese government’s plan to make all new vehicles fully electric or hybrids by the mid-2030s. The company expects demand for the latest model for short-distance travel in cities and mountainous areas. Sales to the general public are expected to follow the initial rollout, after 2022. Toyota expects demand for the new electric vehicles for short-distance travel to increase and the Japanese carmakers makes this move at time when the automaker looks to bring different types of electric vehicles to the global market. Nikkei Asia reports that Toyota's compact EV "is designed for easy driving in mountainous areas and cities, with a small turning radius, and Toyota anticipates demand from a wide range of drivers, from elderly people who frequently drive kei vehicles to younger, first-time drivers." Recenetly Nikkei Asia also reported that in 2021 Toyota will also introduce a new solid-state battery and a new RAV4 size EV called BZ, which stands for Beyond Zero. #ToyotaCompactEV #Toyota This is Armen Hareyan from Torque News.
