Targeted design modifications, an expanded standard equipment roster, across-the-board electrification and clear progress in digital technology mark out the next stage in development of the successful BMW model pairing in the luxury Sports Activity Vehicle and Sports Activity Coupé segments. These extensive modifications represent all the ingredients required to strengthen the position of the BMW X5 as the global market leader in its segment and underpin the leading status of the BMW X6 ahead of competitors from other premium German manufacturers. Both models are built at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg. The competence centre for BMW X models in the US state of South Carolina also hosts production of the BMW X3, the BMW X4, the super-luxurious BMW X7 and the BMW XM - the first electrified high-performance model from BMW M GmbH. Added to which, since 2022 a market-specific variant of the BMW X5 has been rolling off the assembly line at the Dadong plant in China operated by the BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. joint venture based in Shenyang. Alongside the USA and Canada, the most important sales regions for the new BMW X5 and new BMW X6 include China and other Asian markets, Germany, the Middle East and Australia. Their worldwide market launch will get underway in April 2023. The new BMW X5: slim headlights, illuminated BMW kidney grille With its distinctive Sports Activity Vehicle proportions and pared-back surface treatment, the BMW X5 represents a clear example of elegant presence, powerful assurance and broad-based functionality at work. The new edition of the car comes as standard with the design features of xLine specification, shining an even more vivid spotlight on its modern and robust character profile. Alternatively, customers can select an M Sport package from the options list. This contains design elements that reference the model's sporting instincts and take on a modelspecific form for the range-topping BMW X5 M60i xDrive. All model variants adopt the new design for the signature BMW headlights and BMW kidney grille. The outline of the new headlight units is 35 millimetres narrower. Its arrow-shaped daytime driving light elements point outwards and also serve as turn signal indicators. On cars featuring the optional matrix LED headlights with adaptive control and BMW Selective Beam non-dazzling high beam, M Shadowline lights with black inlays can also be specified. The prominent BMW kidney grille has a surround and bars in Pearl-effect Chrome. And the BMW kidney Iconic Glow can be specified for the first time as an option for the BMW X5 xDrive50e, BMW X5 xDrive40i and BMW X5 xDrive30d. Its cascade lighting ensures the cars have an extremely striking and brand-typical appearance both when standing still and while on the move. The illumination is activated when one of the doors is opened and can be switched on or off manually by the driver via the iDrive menu. The BMW kidney grille is now bordered by clearly sculpted surfaces which bring a modern appeal to the front end. Vertical air curtains positioned to the outer edges emphasise the width of the car. The lower air intake has a horizontal decorative trim detail in Pearl-effect Chrome and triangular apertures in its outer areas. Newly designed air breathers, LED rear lights with X motif The air breathers in the front side panels of the BMW X5 also have a modern and eye-catching design. They sport a dynamically curving element at the front (finished in Pearl-effect Chrome as standard or in Black if the M Sport package is specified and on the BMW X5 M60i xDrive), and three horizontal blades at their trailing edge. The BMW X5 xDrive50e also has "electrified by i" badging here and the BMW X5 M60i xDrive features its model designation. The new BMW X5 now comes as standard with not only roof rails in Satin Aluminium but also Exterior Line Satin Aluminium trim. At the rear of the Sports Activity Vehicle, underride protection in Glacier Silver and new geometry for the outer areas of the rear apron bring extra touches of quality. In addition, the likewise newly designed rear lights turn heads during the daylight hours as well as in the dark.
