The Ferrari 550 Barchetta is a 2001 roadster based on the 550 Maranello, featuring a 5.5L V12 engine producing 478 hp, a 6-speed manual transmission, and a top speed of 200 mph. It includes unique design elements like a shorter, raked windshield, roll bars, 19-inch split-rim wheels, and a soft top suitable only for low speeds. Performance Engine: 5.5L naturally aspirated V12 Horsepower: 478 hp at 7,000 RPM Torque: 420 lb-ft at 5,000 RPM Transmission: 6-speed manual 0-60 mph: 4.3 seconds Top Speed: 200 mph Design and features Body Style: Two-seater roadster, a convertible version of the 550 Maranello coupe Windshield: Shorter and more aggressively raked than the coupe Wheels: 19-inch split-rim alloy wheels Interior: Standard racing seats and a restyled trunk that is larger than the coupe's Roof: A soft top that is only suitable for low-speed use due to safety concerns at higher speeds Safety: Includes rollover hoops just behind the seats for protection Production Total Built: 448 examples were built to mark the 70th anniversary of Pininfarina Prototypes: 12 prototypes were made before the final production models @Ferrari @Porsche @LamborghiniSquadraCorse @astonmartin @mclarenracing @McLarenAutomotiveTV @BMW @MercedesBenz @nissanbrasil @nissanusa @audi @Mercedes-AMG @mbusa @Carsnjets The Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pininfarina is a limited-edition roadster version of the 550 Maranello, built to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Ferrari's coachbuilder, Pininfarina. The car revived the classic "barchetta" (Italian for "little boat") styling and offers an exposed, purist driving experience. Only 448 examples were produced between 2000 and 2001. Engine and performance Engine: The Barchetta is powered by the same front-mounted, longitudinal 5.5-liter, naturally aspirated 65° V12 engine found in the 550 Maranello, designated Tipo F133C. Horsepower: 485 bhp (357 kW) at 7,000 rpm. Torque: 419 lb-ft (568 Nm) at 5,000 rpm. Transmission: 6-speed manual gated gearbox. Acceleration: 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. Top Speed: 186 mph (300 km/h), slightly lower than the 550 Maranello due to the lack of a fixed roof. Exterior and design features Body style: The Barchetta is a true roadster, prioritizing open-air motoring. Windshield: Compared to the 550 Maranello, the Barchetta has a more aggressively raked windshield for a sportier look. Emergency top: For foul weather, the car comes with a manually assembled cloth top, though it is intended for temporary use only and is rated for speeds no higher than 70 mph. Safety: To compensate for the missing roof, the Barchetta includes strengthened chassis components, a redesigned windshield surround with a high-strength steel tube, and two leather-wrapped roll-over hoops behind the seats. Wheels: Unique 19-inch split-rim alloy wheels were designed specifically for the Barchetta. Rear deck: The rear section was restyled, providing slightly more trunk space than the coupe. Interior and features Numbered plaque: Each car features a plaque on the center console displaying its unique production number, commemorating Pininfarina's 70th anniversary. Luxury appointments: Despite its minimalist focus on driving, the Barchetta includes standard features like electric windows and air conditioning. Carbon fiber accents: Inside, the car features carbon-backed racing seats and carbon fiber trim. Chassis and mechanicals Chassis: The Barchetta has the same tubular steel frame as the 550 Maranello, but with added structural reinforcements. Suspension: The car features independent, unequal-length wishbone suspension on both the front and rear, with coil springs and gas-filled shock absorbers. Brakes: Braking is handled by large, ventilated Brembo disc brakes with a four-channel ABS system. Handling pack: Many cars were equipped with the optional Fiorano Handling pack, which included stiffer springs, a thicker rear anti-roll bar, and re-mapped suspension software.

About Ferrari 550 Maranello

The Ferrari 550 Maranello (tipo F133) is a front-engine V12 2-seat grand tourer built by Ferrari from 1996 to 2002. The 550 Maranello marked Ferrari's return to a front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout for its 2-seater 12-cylinder model, 23 years after the 365 GTB/4 Daytona had been replaced by the mid-engined Berlinetta Boxer. In 2000, Ferrari introduced the 550 Barchetta Pininfarina, a limited production roadster version of the 550 which was limited to just 448 examples.
