The Manic GT, Quebec's first locally-built sports car, was a stylish and speedy symbol of the Quiet Revolution. Built by ex-Renault ad man Jacques About, and named after the Manicougan Dam that had come to symbolize Quebec's financial rebirth, the Manic was a media darling with the pedigree of a Formula One car. Join Gérard Deltell as he unpacks the surprising international history of this Quebecois classic. About our speaker: Gérard Deltell has served as the member of Parliament (MP) for Louis-Saint-Laurent since 2015 and was Opposition House Leader from 2020 to 2022. Prior to entering federal politics, he represented Chauveau in the National Assembly of Quebec from 2008 to 2015. Deltell majored in history at Université Laval. He also received training as an announcer at the Collège des annonceurs radio télévision in 1982 and at École de radio et de télévision Promédia in 1993. He is the proud owner of a fully restored Quebec-built Manic sports car. This online talk was part of the Canadian Automotive Museum's Third Thursday lecture series.
