This 1933 Chevrolet Eagle Cabriolet is a beautiful three-owner example of a nut and bolt restoration completed in June of 2004. The striking color combination, spoked wheels wrapped in wide white walls, tan canvas soft top and rumble seat make this Cabriolet as beautiful to see as it is a joy to drive. This Eagle needs nothing to be ready for shows and touring. The original owner of this 1933 Cabriolet was Mr. Thomas Kennedy of Westford, NY. The Chevrolet was acquired from Mr. Kennedy’s estate by Mr. Richard Tretoris of Saugerties, NY and placed in storage from 1952 until 1986. The current owner, Mr. Peter Shay of Canastota, NY, acquired the Cabriolet in 1986 and proceeded to undergo a nut and bolt restoration from October 1986 until June 2004. The Chevrolet’s older restoration still shows beautifully overall, and it runs and drives very well. The livery is a two-tone beige and tan body with orange spoked wheels and orange pinstriping. The wheel spokes are capped with chrome sleeves. The beautiful shine and luster of the two-tone paint, wide white wall tires with orange and chrome spoked wheels, dual side-mount spares, dual chrome horns, rear trunk, complete with canvas cover and folding trunk rack all lend an elegant feel to this Cabriolet. The body work and paint were performed by Chuck Nelson Restorations in Bridgeport, NY. The undercarriage and most black parts have been powder coated. There are minor paint imperfections upon close inspection in some of the high use areas due to the older restoration, but overall, the exterior of Cabriolet shows very well. The Cabriolet’s interior was completed during restoration and is a nice complement to the two-tone exterior paint combination. The brown vinyl upholstery and door panels are in very nice condition and show little wear overall. The wood door caps and the dash, complete with faux burl wood dash inserts, also show very well. The flooring is complete with a Chevrolet branded rubber floor mat which protects the wood floor panel. Both show well. The gauges are all in nice condition and function as designed. The steering wheel is in very nice condition and the horn functions well. The brown vinyl rumble seat upholstery and compartment show well throughout. The overall interior is in very nice condition. The engine compartment has been nicely detailed and painted throughout. The 206 ci “Stovebolt Six” motor, complete with a Carter one-barrel carburetor, starts well and runs strong. The power is transferred to the rear wheels through the floor mounted three-speed transmission, which shifts easily and performs quietly. This 1933 Chevrolet is as much a joy to drive as it is to look at. It’s accompanied with an under the seat tool kit, a large variety of shop manuals and numerous receipts and hand written documents. This Cabriolet would be a welcome addition to an American automotive enthusiasts collection.
