I apologize in advance that this video is a slideshow, i cannot stand photo slideshows, but these photos are all i have of the rebuild. A VIDEO of the 8N running will be coming soon! This 8N is also a 1948 model not 1943 as the video states, as those were 9Ns. My 2011 Summer Project was to rebuild my ford 8N tractor engine. The reason for the rebuild was the tractor had been sitting for 2 years without starting or moving. Piston 3 was frozen in the sleeve and so we had to rebuild the whole engine sleeves and all. After disassembling the engine all the parts were taken to a machine shop where they put in new sleeves, values, value seats, pistons and pins. The crank was welded and machined down as the rods were rubbing against the counter weights and the rods were scaring the channel, in addition all the parts were machined flat. All the parts were cleaned of paint and other dirt and grim. A complete gasket kit with rope seals and all were used..duh..in all it took about 3 weeks to put together partly because it took so long to machine the parts. I ran out of time last summer, but my future plans for the tractor include a rebuild of the hydraulic lift system and complete paint job and clean up of the whole tractor to make it look as good as possible. Check out the next video to see the Ford 8N running! If you have any questions about the build please ask. Thanks for watching!
