1967 Porsche 912 Full Restoration – Forgotten Classic Reborn! In 2010, Jim V decided to take on the ambitious restoration of a classic Porsche 912 — a project that would turn into a 15-year journey filled with challenges, learning, and passion. Supported by the Porsche 912 community throughout the entire process, this long-term build slowly came together during spare time over days, months, and years. The story began when Jim searched Ebay looking for a 1965-1967 Porsche 912 restoration project. After watching several auctions, he finally found this 1967 Porsche 912 located in Oregon. Originally listed with a reserve of $6500, the seller later accepted Jim’s $5500 offer before leaving for Holland for several months. Jim drove from San Francisco to southern Oregon early on a Friday morning, purchased the car, loaded it onto a trailer, and brought it home the very same day. Once in the garage, the true condition of the Porsche started to reveal itself: Rust holes in the driver floor and rear jump seat area Poor repaint in the wrong color Damaged left front fender repaired incorrectly Worn interior and destroyed carpet Incorrect steering wheel Numerous small mechanical and cosmetic problems What started as a wild idea became a complete nut-and-bolt restoration project driven by determination, patience, and love for classic air-cooled Porsches. Now retired, Jim works on the car daily with the dream of finally completing the restoration and returning this legendary Porsche 912 to the road.
