After some time away from uploads, the focus has been firmly on the refurbishment itself — and this video gives a more detailed, close-up look at that process. Rather than a full teardown, this is about the detail. The parts. The work that often happens off camera but defines the end result.
We begin with the engine, looking at the progress made so far and the condition of key components as this 35-year-old V-twin is carefully brought back to a standard that does justice to its Dakar-inspired heritage. Built by Honda Motor Company and influenced by the demands of the Dakar Rally, the Africa Twin RD04 remains one of the most respected classic adventure motorcycles ever produced.
From there, the focus shifts to the carburettors. Using a full refurbishment kit, we go through the process of rebuilding the carbs — replacing jets, float valves and internal components, and carefully reassembling them into a complete, functional pair ready to return to the bike. For anyone restoring a Honda Africa Twin, rebuilding carburettors is a key part of the process, and this section offers a clear look at what’s involved.
A highlight of the episode is a first experience with vapour blasting. Components are cleaned and restored, bringing tired, aged metal back to life and revealing just how effective this process can be on classic motorcycle parts.
